Overview
Lead veterinary role within a multi-site network, coordinating clinical standards, mentorship, and program development across Shelton Lock, Allestree, Oakwood, Alfreton, and Langley Mill. Works in a modern hospital environment with on-site facilities to support high-quality clinical care.
Split time between our clinics and contribute to teaching and collaboration with Nottingham University clinicians and final-year students. The group includes a Tier 3 RCVS-accredited hospital offering advanced facilities and multidisciplinary services. The team includes 25+ veterinarians with certificates across multiple disciplines, supported by nurses and staff, and opportunities for further qualifications.
Responsibilities
* Lead across a diverse, multi-site network to influence clinical standards and team development.
* Provide clinical leadership, governance oversight, and delivery of exceptional patient and client care.
* Balance a 4-day week (Monday–Friday, 8:30am–7:00pm) across onsite clinical work and administration time to support leadership and complex case management.
* Oversee complex cases and act as the primary source of clinical guidance and decision-making within the practice.
* Collaborate with senior practice leadership to drive strategic direction and continuous improvement in clinical quality and ways of working.
* Contribute to teaching and development of the next generation of veterinarians with university clinicians and students.
Qualifications
* Veterinary degree and RCVS registration with significant experience in small or mixed animal practice; advanced surgical and medical capability.
* Proven experience mentoring, coaching, and supporting veterinary colleagues.
* Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
* Experience contributing to or leading clinical governance, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Ability to manage clinical complaints and provide professional guidance in complex situations.
* Professionalism, integrity, and commitment to high standards of patient and client care.
