The role of Supreme Courts Support Manager is that of a Court Superintendent, in which you will effectively manage the allocation of staff in Supreme Courts to ensure the effective disposal of business and smooth running of Court.

This is a varied role which will involve daily liaison with various stakeholders including supreme courts staff, members of the judiciary and the wider SCTS.

You will line manage, support and develop staff within Parliament House and in circuit locations, conduct reviews of staff performance and oversee deployment of staff to meet the requirements of the weekly and daily court programme.

The key responsibilities include:

To line manage, develop, monitor and coach support grade staff at SGB2 level based both within Parliament House and in circuit locations.

Conduct regular 1-2-1 catch ups with staff, reporting on performance in accordance with SCTS guidelines and systems.

Working with staff on the completion of personal development plans and objectives
In consultation with the Keeper’s Office, plan and manage support grade staff to ensure adequate cover and deployment of staff meet the requirements of the weekly and daily court programme.

On a daily basis liaise with the departments and offices within the Supreme Courts in regards to business matters.

Complete monthly audits of the High Court Productions process.

Manage and monitor the running of the mail service within Parliament House and Lawnmarket.

Attend monthly managerial Administration departmental meetings.

Hold monthly team meetings with your own team.

On a rotational basis, attend full support grade staff meetings on local developments and organisational changes.

On a daily basis manage and respond to all enquiries sent to the generic email inboxes.

Liaise on a regular basis with the other Court Superintendents on the progress of support grade staff and schedule/plan training as required.

Liaise with the training team to ensure adequate training is in place for both new and existing staff.

Work with the training team to regularly review and update training materials.

As required provide cover for all Support Grade Band 1 (SGB1) (Telephonist, Paper Keeper and Production Keeper) within Parliament House and High Court Lawnmarket.

To operate in court camera equipment to enable livestreaming from Supreme Courts to be broadcast including testing of equipment prior to any hearing to ensure the equipment works in advance of any hearing and reporting of any issues with recording equipment in a timely manner.

To act as a Senior Fire Marshal.

Undertake such duties as may reasonably be requested within the scope of the post.
