We support hybrid working which provides for greater flexibility with the way that we work Your role: You will work collaboratively in our multi-disciplinary product teams, based in our Skipton office, to develop new data and methods that help maintain JBA’s position as a world-leading provider of flood hazard and risk data. Key responsibilities: • Primarily working in our Flood Maps team to develop and improve our high-resolution data • Creating and manipulating geospatial data to build hydraulic models and flood defence databases • Analysing and validating results from hydraulic models, geoprocessing tools and machine learning processes, using GIS and data management skills • Supporting colleagues and clients with technical queries related to our data and methods • Collaborating with other Agile product teams to support the development of hazard and risk metrics, climate change data and services, innovative software, and ground-breaking global catastrophe models The team member we are looking for: We are looking for a highly motivated individual who enjoys teamwork, collaboration and innovation and has a commitment to delivering value to clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, ideally in Geography, Natural Hazards, Geographical Information Systems, Data Science or a relevant scientific subject. You will have strong communication, problem solving, self-organisational and management skills and will have experience using GIS and geospatial data. A background in hydrology or hydraulic modelling is preferable. A Degree in a relevant subject such as Geography, Natural Hazards, Data Science and Geographical Information Systems or similar experience in these fields is required. Our team has adopted a hybrid working approach with some requirement to work both from home and in the office. We supply basic equipment to support this.
