NHS GG&C Older People’s Psychology Service (OPPS) is pleased to advertise a Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist role across Glasgow City Older People’s Community Mental Health Teams (OP‑CMHT’s). This is a peripatetic post with input based across teams in Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP), with locations in the South, North West or North East of Glasgow city.
The post holder will be a valued member of a multidisciplinary mental health team comprising Psychiatry, Nursing, Occupational Health and Business support colleagues, each providing established Clinical Psychology input.
Responsibilities
* Deliver highly specialist psychological therapies and neuropsychological assessment in a timely and efficient manner.
* Provide peripatetic clinical psychology input across the service area and at different bases as required.
* Support Glasgow City HSCP Acute Hospital Liaison MDT staff to recognise and respond to the psychological needs of older people during hospital admission, including post‑discharge 1‑1 psychological interventions.
* Consult and advise other professionals and non‑professional carers on clients’ psychological care, working autonomously within professional guidelines.
* Contribute to service development, audit and research priorities.
* Offer a specialised clinical psychology service that supports the delivery of psychological interventions and therapies (PI/PTs) to older people across all sectors of care.
* Provide clinical psychology input within the older people’s mental health in‑patient psychology team, care home liaison psychology service and the OPTIMAL team to widen access to evidence‑based PI/PTs.
