Job summary
We are seeking a highly skilled ENT Ontology Consultant to support and harmonize ontology initiatives across sites.
The ideal candidate has deep expertise in medical ontologies, knowledge of ENT-specific terminologies, and a strong understanding of clinical workflows. They will act as a subject matter expert, guiding ontology development, validation, and integration into electronic health records (EHRs), research databases, and decision support systems.
Main duties of the job
The Consultant in ENT (Otology / Lateral Skull Base) will provide specialist clinical expertise in the diagnosis and management of ear and lateral skull base disorders. The role involves delivering outpatient and surgical services for complex ontological and neurotological conditions, working within a multidisciplinary team alongside neurosurgery, audiology, and radiology colleagues. The post holder will also contribute to the ongoing development of the otology and skull base service in line with NHS standards of excellence and patient care and support the regional on-call rota and the trust planned tracheostomy surgery lists for ITU patients.
