Mechanical Project Lead – MEP Associate Director

A leading global construction and consultancy firm is seeking a Mechanical Project Lead – MEP Associate Director to join its Commercial Business Unit. This is a key leadership role on a flagship £250m+ project in Central London, currently in its early stages.
You will act as the Mechanical Lead, taking full accountability for the delivery of MEP services, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety and quality.
The Role:
You will drive high-quality, efficient, and commercially successful project delivery, while providing leadership across compliance, governance, and team management. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and motivate the MEP team, setting clear direction and promoting a culture aligned with company standards
* Oversee the full delivery of MEP services, including programme management, health & safety, quality, and commissioning
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and senior stakeholders
* Support tendering activities, providing technical and commercial input to bid teams
* Contribute to procurement strategies and oversee the appointment of specialist packages
* Review contracts, scopes, budgets, and value engineering opportunities, supporting commercial teams throughout delivery
* Lead design reviews, ensuring compliance, coordination, and alignment with RIBA and BSRIA frameworks
* Drive project planning, including sequencing, logistics, and commissioning strategies (IST, ATPs, soft landings)
* Monitor productivity and programme performance using digital tools, identifying risks and critical path issues
* Lead project close-out activities, including commissioning, documentation, and client handover
* Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
* Promote continuous improvement and lessons learned across projects
* Manage, influence, and negotiate with senior stakeholders, including C-suite level
* Lead and develop large teams, supporting performance, career development, and a high-performance culture
* Support net zero carbon initiatives and sustainable delivery strategies
Package:
* Salary up to £120,000
* £7,800 car allowance + travel expenses
