About the role
* Responsible for delivering the health, safety, and environmental risk strategy as set by the Head of Safety & Risk.
* Implementing ISO certified safety and environmental management systems.
* Acting as the Subject Matter Expert for Smiths News on Health and Safety, Environmental risk, and Safety Culture, including all road transport and operational yard safety at Smiths News and third-party locations.
* Owning company health and safety policies, training, and audit regimes, ensuring suitable arrangements are in place and managed effectively.
* Delivering Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness programs in collaboration with the Head of Safety & Risk to foster positive behaviors and a just safety culture.
* Building positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders interested in the company's safety and legal compliance, such as HSE, DVSA, Local Authorities, and Trade Bodies.
* Ensuring all incidents and accidents are thoroughly investigated by trained colleagues, with escalation procedures followed as appropriate, and liaising with external stakeholders like emergency services and media.

About you
* At least Nebosh Level 3 or equivalent qualification
* Experience with ISO 45001 and integrated systems
* Auditing qualifications and experience
* Environmental Risk qualifications
* Extensive accident investigation experience, including root cause analysis
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to negotiate and influence at senior levels
* A valid UK driving license (company car may be provided)
