Senior / Principal Ecologist – Local Authority (Devon) A Devon-based local authority is seeking an experienced Senior/Principal Ecologist to provide expert ecological advice and support across planning and development projects. Key responsibilities: Provide ecological advice on planning applications and development proposals Assess ecological reports (PEAs, EcIAs, HRAs, protected species surveys) Advise on biodiversity net gain, protected species, and habitat regulations Support policy, enforcement, and project delivery as required Requirements: Significant experience in ecological consultancy or local authority ecology Strong knowledge of UK planning policy, wildlife legislation, and BNG Ability to work independently and provide clear professional advice Contract details: £45–£50 per hour 6-month contract 18 hours per week Flexible / hybrid working considered An excellent opportunity for an experienced ecologist seeking flexible contract work within a local authority setting.
