We have a wonderful opportunity to progress your career and step into a leadership role as we are looking for a Social Work Consultant to join our Emergency Duty Team. Durham EDT is looking to employ an experienced social worker who is both holds both a post qualifying AMHP qualification and has child protection experience, who is able to lead child protection investigations. If you are brave, decisive, curious, flexible, nurturing, and a wonderful communicator then this could be the next step for you. This role will suit an experienced Social Worker ready to take the next step. WHAT IS INVOLVED? The Social Work Consultant will co-ordinate and take lead responsibility when on duty for all Emergency Duty Team staff. The Social Work Consultant will work closely with the Team Manager as a key part of the management team to provide support and consistency to Durham’s single front door services including the MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub). Within this role, the Social Work Consultant will operationally work out of core hours and this role is office based. In March 2025, Durham Children's Service's was rated Outstanding by Ofsted. Essential qualifications for this role are: Degree in social work or equivalent social work qualification, i.e. CQSW, CSS or Dip SW Current Social Work England Registration Approved Mental Health Professional and / or post qualifying award in child protection (i.e. the ability to work as a child protection social worker) Please refer to the attached person specification for the full criteria.
