Role context
With the backing of one of the UK's leading PE firms, Capital Economics is investing to leverage its unrivalled market position in macroeconomics and transform the value delivered to its clients through the service provided to new and existing clients and partners internationally. Furthermore, with new CEO, CFO, Chief Revenue Officer and Technical Director joining the management team in 2021 the business is working to deliver a step change in the experience through which its clients use its macroeconomics data and services.
Role requirement
Capital Economics use Drupal as our backbone web technology, and we are committed to extending its use to develop a new suite of products as part of our digital roadmap. We are seeking to hire a permanent Lead Drupal Developer that will be responsible for leading the technical expansion of our digital products working alongside our renowned Drupal build partners. The new staff member will also work closely with our internal product and CRM teams to create end to end products that combine extensive economic data with CMS content for a variety of customers. Key areas of contribution and delivery include:
* Develop code using Drupal 10. Some code may be open sourced depending on its use and contributed back to the Drupal community.
* Use Git and GitHub to maintain source control of the companies Drupal code base.
* Peer review and assess work produced by other members of the development team or from third parties.
* Work with Docker, DevOps environments and AWS to write software that can install and boot itself in all situations.
* Lead the recruitment, mentoring and performance management of the inhouse developers.
* Write unit and integration tests with a pragmatic level of coverage.
* Build strong working relationships with internal team members, external stakeholders, and departmental peers (Director of Technology, Product Managers, Sales Operations Team, CRM Administration Team, etc)
* Apply Drupal security best practice to all areas that the team works on.
* Comply and contribute to company standards, processes, and procedures.
* Implement, contribute, and influence the target Drupal architecture.
* Perform initial Drupal project engagement and requirements scoping.
* Ensure that Create and maintain supporting documentation is maintained, ensuring and that that pprocesses/standards are adhered to.
* Work with others to establish business needs and requirements (including non-functional requirements).
* Support and help others to improve their Drupal knowledge, skills, and processes by proactively promoting and contributing to a knowledge sharing culture.
* Design and support the integration of Drupal with other business platforms. This may require the evaluation of Drupal packages or other 3rd party software.
* Schedule and manage all work within the team such as BAU/Project/Break-Fix/Vulnerability Patching etc.
* Create and manage Data Metrics and Key Performance Indicators; to support business decisions, improve processes and increase efficiency.

Skills & experience
Essential
* Experience of leading a software development team, including mentoring, facilitating technical discussions and setting direction.
* In depth knowledge of operational and application security.
* In depth understanding of the HTTP protocol.
* Excellent collaboration and communication skills with a delivery focussed mindset.
* Experience of working with Drupal 98/109 at scale.
* Strong analytical skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements. The ability to take on complex information and communicate to a non-technical audience will be important.
* Strong problem-solving abilities and an excellent attention to detail with a desire to own and resolve issues and challenges that impact the Drupal platform.
* Strong understanding of Technical, Software and Infrastructure Architecture.
* Awareness of the latest Drupal developments and trends.
* Extensive experience in the full systems delivery lifecycle including idea creation, requirements gathering, analysis, design, configuration, integration, testing (all phases), migration, deployment, and long-term operational support.
* A Drupal.org user ID, or GitHub user ID that shows your public track record.
* Self-motivated, with the ability to work autonomously and on your own initiative.
