Overview
Applications are invited for a highly motivated Clinical Fellow in Brain Injury Rehabilitation based at the Frenchay Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre, situated in the grounds of Frenchay Hospital on the outskirts of the cosmopolitan city of Bristol.
This is a full‑time appointment for 30 hours per week, with the need for occasional flexibility. There is no on‑call commitment.
The Centre is a highly reputable, busy 52-bed unit offering brain injury rehabilitation for adolescent and adult patients, including patients with complex acquired neurological injuries and may include patients with a tracheostomy or challenging behaviours.
Responsibilities
* Play an active role in all aspects of the assessment and management of patients.
* Provide continuity of medical care and day‑to‑day management of the in‑patient service.
* Prepare reports and comprehensive discharge summaries.
* Maintain close liaison with the Centre’s interdisciplinary team and with acute neurosciences services.
* Provide on‑site cover from 9am to 5pm for Level 1 & 2 patients undergoing rehabilitation.
* Handle clerking for new patients, acquiring collateral information from referring wards, hospitals, and families.
* Support nursing and therapy staff and act as a liaison with patients, families, and clinical professionals.
* Take the lead in general medical management of patients, while collaborating with consultants in Rehabilitation Medicine, Neuropsychiatry, and Neuropsychology.
Qualifications
* Full registration with the GMC.
* Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices, or equivalent.
