Transport Officer
Location: Willesden, NW10
Salary: £34,000 – £37,000 (DOE)
Hours: Monday to Friday: 6:30am – 4:30pm, Alternate Saturdays: 7:00am – 1:00pm
Purpose of the Role:
As Transport Officer, you’ll help play a key role overseeing the daily transport operation, supporting drivers and yard colleagues while ensuring vehicles, routes, and deliveries are managed efficiently and in full compliance with legal and company standards.

Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in overseeing daily transport operations to ensure deliveries are completed safely, on time, and efficiently
* Support drivers and yard team members to maintain compliant, effective operations
* Plan routes and schedule deliveries to maximise fleet efficiency, including vehicle loading and day-to-day fleet monitoring
* Liaise with customers and colleagues to resolve delivery queries and provide clear updates
* Ensure vehicles and drivers meet all legal, safety, and company standards, carrying out and recording regular checks
* Promote a positive team culture with strong communication and high customer service standards
* Carry out various administrative duties to support the transport function, including maintaining accurate records and documentation
* Utilise IT systems effectively for scheduling, reporting, and communication
Requirements:
* Proven experience in transport, logistics, or fleet management within builders’ merchants or construction materials
* Strong working knowledge of vehicle maintenance, transport legislation, and driver compliance
* Good IT skills with experience using transport or logistics systems
* Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and time management skills
* Confident communicator with a positive, collaborative, solutions-focused approach
* Calm under pressure, adaptable in a fast-paced environment, and committed to health & safety
