Mechanical Associate / Associate Director – Building Services Consultancy
The Opportunity
We’re working exclusively with a highly regarded building services consultancy to appoint a Mechanical Associate Director to their leadership team in South Manchester.
This is a key strategic hire within a business known for its technical excellence, collaborative culture, and diverse project portfolio. As Mechanical Associate Director, you’ll take a client-facing lead across multiple sectors — including commercial, education and residential — while overseeing the performance and coordination of an established mechanical design team.
It’s an ideal role for an experienced mechanical building services engineer looking for more influence, leadership, and long-term progression within a growing business.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead mechanical engineering delivery on a variety of multi-sector projects
* Act as a key point of contact for clients, architects, contractors, and stakeholders
* Manage and mentor a team of mechanical engineers, promoting collaboration and technical development
* Coordinate design outputs across disciplines to ensure seamless project delivery
* Oversee workload planning, resource management, and project financials
* Support Directors with business development, bid work, and strategic growth planning
* Maintain high technical standards, champion sustainable design, and ensure compliance with current regulations
Requirements
* Degree-qualified Mechanical Building Services Engineer (or equivalent)
* Chartered or working toward CEng status (CIBSE or IMechE)
* Minimum 10 years’ experience within UK consultancy environment
* Proven track record of delivering complex MEP projects from concept to handover
* Strong client-facing and leadership skills
* Comfortable managing teams and coordinating cross-discipline design packages
* Confident communicator with a commercially aware, delivery-focused mindset
