Salary: National Police Pay Scales plus London Weighting and London Allowance. This post currently attracts a £3,000 per annum firearms payment.
Description of Department
We are now welcoming applications from currently competent ARV officers to join our dedicated Tactical Firearms Group ARV teams. The ARVs provide the 24‑hour firearms response to both spontaneous and planned operations in the City as well as supporting the Force in several other areas and across the Metropolitan policing area.
The TFG forms part of the critical protection plan for national infrastructure within the City of London, including various tier 1 sites and crowded spaces.
This role also provides the opportunity to develop your Firearms career and undertake additional skills of Operational Firearms Commander (OFC), Tactical Advisor (TA), National Protection Officer (NPO) and National Firearms Instructor (NFI).
Eligibility Criteria
* Accredited to national standards for the relevant ARVO role with a proven level of competence in training and operational deployment – including CBRN capability.
* Attain the minimum national fitness levels – JRFT 9.4.
* Medically fit for role profile.
* Serving in a recognised Home Office Force.
* Successfully completed probationary period.

* Advanced Driver
* Firearms Tactical Advisor (TA)

Application and Training
Once you have submitted your application form your application will be subject to an eligibility process.
We will require an uploaded copy of the following records:
* ARVO training record
* Taser training record
* PPST/OST record
If successful, at application phase you will be invited to undertake a job‑related fitness test (JRFT) of 9.4 and an interview before progressing through to medical assessment. The application and interview will be tested under Level 1 of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework.
A five‑week (partly residential) transferee course once in post.
