The post holder will be responsible for assisting in the development, implementation and support of the Trusts IT orientated project within the IT Services Department, based at Leigh Infirmary.
The Senior Network Analyst is responsible for maintaining and improving the network infrastructure of the Trust. They will ensure the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video, and wireless network services. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organisation. The post holder will also be required to problem manage issue that arise due to the deployment of new technology before its handed over to BAU.

This is a permanent full time post (37.5 hours) across Monday to Friday (0830-1630 with an on-call rota).
Main duties of the job
Undertakes & analyses site surveys reports and develops specifications of requirements and plans for installation and commissioning of hardware and software.
Analyse, monitor and reviews performance, throughput, availability and exceptional incidents and proposes and implements consequent improvements
Reviews network topology configuration, assessing effectiveness, and if applicable advises the Technical Support Manager on the optimum configuration.
Selects appropriate procedures and tools and carries out specialist tasks associated with the planning, installation, upgrade, operation, control and maintenance of the Trusts computer data network

Duties and Responsibilities

Planning and Organisational Duties
·Advises & assists the Service Delivery Manager in the planning, design & development of Trust computer data network installations to meet the requirements of data network projects, recommending network devices, protocols & media type
·Work closely with the Telecom Manager to ensure that converged architecture is fully maintained and support
·Manage the availability & delivery of the IT services data network to the Trusts 4000+ users/staff spread over a wide geographical area, adhering to Service Level Agreements.
·Investigates diagnoses and rectifies complex network problems, working with other team members, department managers, users, suppliers and other Trusts IT Departments.
·Assist the Systems Development Manager with the planning and implementation of the departments Disaster Recovery Policy
·Deal with frequent interruptions to respond to requests for assistance and / or a decision, returning to original duty and being able to continue effectively
·Provides technical/skills assistance during the planning and development of new working areas throughout the Trust
·Determine network architecture, topology & media type appropriate for the installation of new technologies throughout the trust.
·Continually developing sufficient business skills in order to play an active part in the wider policy making and overall management of IM&T within the Trust
·Evaluates and produces reports on new and emerging products and technologies that may be of use to the IT Services Department
·Keep data network skills & knowledge up to date through appropriate training courses.
Communications and Key Working Relationships
·Liaises with external suppliers during the installation of new network cabling infrastructure
·Responsible for maintaining the trust data network security, by administration of the Trusts Firewall, newly adapted Cisco Remote Access Solution & inter-site switch port access.
·Compliance with all IT Services Policies and Procedures, especially those covering IM&T Security which includes Internet Access, Email etc
·Monitor and produce Network quality measurements to support the service delivery of the IM&T team
Responsibility for Finance
·Ensures assigned resources (staff, equipment etc) are properly utilised and accounted for and that up to date information on usage/status is maintained
Responsibility for Human Resources
·Manages the Network Analyst on a day to day basis and deals with all HR issues that may arise including appraisals, IPR, discipline, sickness & absence etc.
·Deputise in the absence of the technical support manager for any network project meetings & enquiries.
Responsibility for Teaching
·Develop and maintain status as a IT professional
·Train, coach and mentor team members including training them in how to do on the job coaching, document procedures for configuring new devices.
·Maintain compliance with mandatory training policy
·Actively participate in Performance Development Reviews
·Contribute to the training of new members of the Team as appropriate

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Educated to Degree level or equivalent qualification or experience
2. Professional qualification e.g. MCP/MCSE
3. ITIL Foundation Qualification
4. PRINCE 2 Foundation Qualification
Desirable criteria
5. CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) or other relevant qualification
Experience
