Job Summary
I am a freelance Town Planner providing flexible planning consultancy services to a wide range of clients, from small residential extensions to large mixed-use developments, schools, and hospitals. To support growing client demand, I am seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Planning Assistant to help with research, drafting, and preparation of planning-related documents.
This is a flexible, remote role, ideally suited to someone with an interest in planning, architecture, or development who is looking to gain experience while supporting a variety of projects. This would be ideal for a student looking to gain experience in the world of planning and development.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with drafting Planning Statements, Transport Statements, Design & Access Statements, and Heritage Impact Assessments.
* Carry out background research, including site appraisals, planning policy reviews, and feasibility assessments.
* Help prepare and manage planning applications, appeals, and Change of Use submissions.
* Proofread, format, and prepare documents for submission.
* Provide general administrative support as needed (document organisation, scheduling, etc.).
Skills & Experience
Essential:
* Strong written communication and attention to detail.
* Ability to research and summarise planning policy and guidance clearly.
* Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and PDF editing.
* Interest in town planning or development.
Desirable:
* Experience in using QGIS.
* Student or recent grad of town planning, architecture, or related field.
* Understanding of the UK planning system and terminology.
* Experience drafting or supporting planning applications.
* Currently studying a degree (or recently graduated) in Planning, Architecture, Geography, or related subject.
