We are a small neighbourhood café with our priorities rooted in good simple food - done well and with care. We are seeking a person with a willing attitude and an ethos that aligns with ours; to see our guests leaving contented with their experience. Our cafe hours are day time only and reasonable. Previous kitchen experience is expected from applicants but not demanded – just the right attitude and a love of nourishing home-cooked food.
Responsibilities
* Prepare and cook dishes in accordance with established recipes and standards.
* The role is primarily centred around the pass; plating dishes to a high standard.
* efficient time management between sit in orders takeaway and food prep.
* organising and monitoring display counter levels.
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations.
* Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction.
* Assist in menu planning and development, incorporating seasonal ingredients and current culinary trends.
* Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering supplies as needed.
* Ensure that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and used safely.
Experience
* Proven experience in a restaurant or similar hospitality setting as a Chef or Cook is preferred.
* Strong knowledge of food production techniques and food safety practices.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
* A passion for cooking and creating innovative dishes.
* Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
