Your Mission:
Infrastructure project delivery is a challenging environment, with interdependencies between a number of programmes and projects against the need to maintain the military outputs of an operational naval base. The candidate will be required to deliver at pace and demonstrate effective application of programme and project management skills, tools and techniques.
The Schedule/planning coordinator role is responsible for developing, maintaining and communicating the client project interface. This role as the HMNBC Planning interface will work collaboratively with key planners to ensure the Programme integrated plan including key milestones; critical dates and interdependencies are captured, agreed and delivered into the client Integrated Plan.
The role will work with a wide and varied range of Stakeholders, including Planning and Risk Managers, to identify risks, potential mitigations and opportunities to generate schedules and succinct reports which support informed decision making to add clarity and value to the client programmes
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the customer and primary interface for the major customer Programme Integrated Planning
* Review, analyse, and challenge Programme schedules and plans to ensure they are robust, realistic, and aligned to HMNBC priorities
* Lead and support integrated planning reviews with planning leads
* ⚠️ Identify, challenge, and manage risks, issues, and opportunities, supporting development of effective mitigation plans
* Assess and communicate Programme impacts on the Integrated Plan
* Work closely with Planning and Risk stakeholders to ensure alignment and integration
* Submit accurate plans for inclusion in the Base Integrated Plan, in line with agreed milestones
* Ensure the Baseline Change Process is correctly applied and governed
* Track and report mitigation actions, progress, and key issues
* Represent the key project at meetings, reviews, and working groups
* ️ Liaise with MoD, OGDs, industry partners, consultants, and contractors as required
* Provide clear progress updates and reports to client governance forums
Qualifications
Experience & Skills
Essential
* ⏳ 5+ years’ experience in a scheduling / planning role
* ️ Primavera P6 Practitioner (hands-on user)
* Strong knowledge of planning & scheduling processes, including baseline change control
* Ability to analyse complex data and develop a clear, big-picture view
* Skilled at processing detailed information and identifying trends
* Strong organisational and leadership capabilities
* Proven experience in delivery management and stakeholder engagement
* Confident user of Microsoft Office and IT tools
Desirable
* ️ In-depth industry knowledge
* ️ Ability to communicate effectively at executive level
* Agile mindset with the ability to adapt to change
* Experience planning in complex, live operational environments
* Experience working in highly collaborative, multi-stakeholder settings
* ️ Background as a scheduler/planner in a government or public-sector delivery environment (desirable, not essential)

* APM Project Management Qualification
* PRINCE 2 Practitioner
* Managing Successful Programmes Practitioner

* Membership of Relevant professional body

This role is primarily based at Helensburgh and due to the nature of the role will have access to restricted information which will require a sole UK National Citizen to meet the necessary security criteria.
There is a requirement to be onsite at Helensburgh to facilitate workshops, routine meetings and site visits and to engage with the wider NBCC team, this currently is a minimum of 2 days per week but could require more at specific times of the programme and should be flexible to facilitate this.
There will be a requirement to attend meetings and workshops at Kentigern House in Glasgow, potentially occasional travel to Abbey Wood in Bristol and external offices of contractors where necessary.
