Job Overview
We are delighted to announce that an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the BCUHB Specialist Weight Management Service.
Helping people to achieve and maintain a healthier weight is one of the most effective ways to reduce the risk of long-term health conditions such as Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, osteoarthritis, sleep apnoea and some cancers, and to reduce the likelihood of obesity associated disability and ill health. Many individuals with weight management issues have mental health issues, which present as a barrier to weight loss. Therefore, psychological interventions play a key role in this service.
This is a fixed term post for three days per week (0.6 WTE, 22.5 hours) until 31st March 2026, due to funding. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.
Main duties of the job
This vital role involves providing specialised psychological assessment and therapy to clients primarily at Level 3 of the service, alongside working as part of a MDT, in order to ensure the delivery of high quality clinical psychology services within the framework of the team/service policies and procedures.
With the support of a Principal Clinical Psychologist, the post holder will have the opportunity to contribute to further service development. Working with a Principal Clinical Psychologist, alongside highly skilled MDT members, the successful applicant will undertake specialised psychological assessment, formulation and interventions with service users from across North Wales. Training and consultation with the multidisciplinary team across other services will also be a part of the role.
The post holder will also be a member of the BCUHB Health Clinical Psychology Department, which is a supportive, friendly and growing department of Clinical Psychologists working in physical health services across BCUHB and has strong links with the North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme. The post provides the ideal opportunity to take an active role in the Clinical Psychology Service for this highly specialised client group.
