The role
As a Dosimetry Specialist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. As a Dosimetry Specialist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Your role will include ensuring that radiation doses accrued by personnel at HMNB Clyde are controlled, recorded and minimised in accordance with the ALARP (as low as reasonably practicable) principle.
Day-to-day, you’ll manage the Dosimetry Management system ensuring that the requirements of the Ionising Radiation Regulations (IRR17) are met.
1. Implementation of the Company Safety, Quality and Environmental policies in the Dosimetry area of the business ensuring that assessments of risks are carried out which lead to safe working attitudes and practices.
2. Compilation of Annual Dosimetry Reports and other periodic reports as required.
3. Ensure that the Procedure Authorisation Group is made aware of any discrepancies between dose estimates and actual doses.
4. Provide clear and robust advice, direction and training to all those with responsibility for complying with safety management arrangements.
This role is full time 36 hours per week, Monday to Thursday is based on site at Faslane, Helensburgh. There will be an expectation to be onsite full time during the initial training periods however, there will be flexibility to work on a hybrid basis once fully competent in the role.
Essential experience of the Dosimetry Specialist
5. Experience of working in similar controlled environments of work and how site operations work within these.
6. An understanding of Ionising Radiation Regulations and enforcing regulatory bodies.
7. Demonstrable experience of working with Dosimetry procedures and processes
