Position Details
* Department: Fundraising
* Salary: £27,000 – £30,000 (depending on experience)
* Reports to: Community & Events Fundraising Manager
* Location: Hybrid – three days per week on-site in Cannock, Staffordshire
* Travel: Required for events and supporter engagement, including some evenings and weekends
Role Purpose
To coordinate and deliver Newlife’s challenge event fundraising programme, driving participation, engagement, and income growth.
Key Responsibilities
Challenge & Community Events
* Lead the delivery of third-party challenge events (e.g., London Marathon, London Landmarks, Great North Run) and supporter-led activities (e.g., skydives, sponsored runs/walks).
* Manage event registration platforms and ensure participant data is accurately recorded and maintained.
* Maintain and distribute fundraising resources and materials for participants.
* Recruit, support, and steward event participants, ensuring a positive experience and encouraging repeat involvement.
* Collaborate with the Community & Events Fundraising Manager to develop supporter journeys that increase retention and satisfaction.
* Respond to enquiries from supporters and potential fundraisers via email inboxes and fundraising portals.
* Review and improve existing fundraising materials, including online content and collateral.
* Research and develop new fundraising ideas and products to appeal to a broad range of supporters.
* Contribute to wider team income targets and strategy through proactive engagement and planning.
Monitoring & Evaluation
* Track event performance and evaluate impact, using audience insights and data analysis.
* Monitor budgets, forecast income, and contribute to contingency planning.
* Produce clear, comprehensive post-event evaluations and reports.
* Work closely with the Marketing & Communications Team to maximise visibility and participation in events.
* Develop a geographically diverse network of volunteers to support event delivery.
* Partner with the Campaign & Appeals Officer to ensure sensitive fundraising (e.g., in memory of a loved one) is handled with care and opportunity is maximised.
Compliance & Best Practice
* Follow all financial procedures and ensure safe handling of donations and data.
* Stay informed about sector trends and participate in competitor analysis and planning.
* Ensure activities comply with GDPR, Gift Aid, and relevant regulatory bodies.
Additional Duties
* Maintain up-to-date records on the CRM system (preferably Raiser’s Edge).
* Actively pursue professional development through relevant training and networking.
* Promote and embody the values of Newlife, contributing to its strategic aims.
* Represent Newlife at external events and sector initiatives.
* Champion equality, diversity, and inclusion across all areas of responsibility.
* Carry out any other duties reasonably required by the organisation.
Person Specification
Skills & Attributes
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to adapt style to audience.
* Supporter-focused mindset with a commitment to providing a positive experience.
* Comfortable researching and pitching new fundraising ideas to management.
* Highly organised with excellent project management and budgeting abilities.
* Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
* Strong understanding of fundraising compliance and legal frameworks (e.g., GDPR, Gift Aid).
* Passionate about Newlife’s mission and motivated to drive fundraising success.
Experience
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in challenge event or community fundraising (ideally both).
* Demonstrated success in recruiting, supporting, and stewarding fundraisers.
* Experience launching new community or challenge fundraising initiatives.
* Good working knowledge of digital fundraising tools and online platforms.
