Summary
This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people aged 16–19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as they transition into further education. If you're passionate about helping learners achieve independence and confidence in a college setting, this role could be your next step.
The Role
Working within a mainstream college's dedicated SEND team, you'll support learners with ASD to access their education, develop life skills, and navigate the social and emotional demands of college life.
You will provide a blend of 1:1 and small group support, both in and out of the classroom, helping students with:
* Academic tasks and organisation
* Emotional regulation and sensory needs
* Social communication and peer interaction
* Understanding routines and managing transitions
You'll also play a key part in implementing EHCP strategies and collaborating with tutors and SEN staff to ensure consistency in support.
The Ideal Candidate
This role is ideal for someone who is calm, empathetic, and passionate about neurodiversity. You may have experience in schools, care, youth work, or support services. What matters most is your ability to build trusting relationships and support young adults in gaining independence and confidence.
Skills and Experience
* Experience supporting individuals with ASD or neurodiverse profiles
* A patient, adaptable, and person-centred approach
* Confidence working with children or young adults with SEND
* A relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification is required

Hours
Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm, term time only. Full-time and part-time applicants welcome.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
