Secondary Teaching Assistant – Whitehaven

Hours: Full-time, term-time only
We're looking for two dedicated Secondary Teaching Assistants to join a welcoming school in Whitehaven, supporting pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4 this September. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is patient, motivated, and passionate about helping young people thrive both in the classroom and beyond.
The Role
* Work with pupils aged 11–16 in class, small groups, and 1:1.
* Support students with Autism, ADHD, and additional learning needs.
* Help young people stay engaged, regulate behaviour, and achieve their potential.
* Assist teachers in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
* Support learning not just in core subjects, but in creative and vocational areas too.
Who We're Looking For
You don't need to be an experienced TA already — we're looking for someone who is:
* Passionate about supporting young people.
* Patient, calm, and able to build positive relationships.
* Confident working with pupils who may display challenging behaviour.
* A good communicator and team player.
Experience in care, youth work, mentoring, or support work is also highly valued. Training and guidance will be provided.

If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
