Your future role
You will be working on our LOTrain project based at Ilford Depot, you will also be required to work on our site at Willesden TMD at times.
You'll be responsible for carrying out routine maintenance, repair and fault finding on Aventra Units. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business and have responsibility of vehicle examinations in line with vehicle maintenance instruction, and take responsibility for the safe, efficient and professional workmanship of oneself and others under your control and much more.
We’ll look to you for:
1. Detailed fault finding and diagnostics
2. Provide train systems engineering advice for the vehicle as a whole and for the key vehicle systems (such as TCMS - train control system, HVAC, propulsion, brakes, doors, on-train communications etc.)
3. Produce solutions that provide short term mitigation and long term resolution
4. Monitoring of warranty issues and liaising with supplier technical teams
5. Assisting operator in updating of maintenance instructions, overhaul instruction, processes & procedures to optimize maintenance and liaise with Technical Publications Team and Central Engineering teams where required
6. Monitor of trains in service using remote monitoring system called Orbita
7. Download train data from onboard train data recorders using laptops
8. Run diagnostics software to identify faults with various train systems hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, train management systems & on board computers.
9. System software updates as required
10. Service Provider representation on the internal safety forum, feeding back decisions and outputs to the Customer
11. Contribution to Health and Safety on a daily basis.
12. Gather evidence of faults and create reports to ensure warranty covered parts are replace
13. Undertake technical maintenance to the required standards, and in accordance with all maintenance instructions
14. Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all maintenance documentation prior to Shift Production Manager (SPM) validation and authorisation
15. Responsible to the Shift Production Manager for the accurate identification of outstanding work at the end of the shift
16. Operation of powered plant, lifting and mechanical handling equipment
17. Ensuring all problems with processes, tooling and documentation are identified within the team is reported to the Shift Production Manager / Facility Management Team
18. Highlighting potential Health and Safety concerns
19. Compliance with all laid down H&S legislation and depot procedures to ensure a safe accident free environment
20. Responsible for keeping the work area clean and tidy and to the highest standards at all times
21. Supporting the SPM regarding delivery of Quality, Waste Reduction, Delivery and EHS targets
22. Produce comprehensive reports on specific fault finding investigations
23. Identify potential improvements and feedback to Engineering
24. Constantly searching for ways to improve processes

25. Minimum qualification required – NVQ Level 3 in an electrical discipline.
26. Experience within Rail
27. Use of Laptop’s and diagnostic tools to determine faults
28. Ability to work from maintenance manuals and schematics
29. Experience of Mechanical or Electrical fault finding
30. Experience of Mechanical or Electrical repairs
31. Troubleshooting and evidence gathering.
