A lady in the Birstall area requires support with personal care.
Role Requirements
A Personal Assistant is required Monday - Sunday: 45 min AM call 8:30am - 9:15am. Saturday and Sunday to also include a 30-minute tea call.
You will be required to provide support to the client with:
* personal care (washing and dressing)
* prompting of medication
* preparing breakfast
* light domestic tasks
During the tea call (Saturday and Sunday):
* warm up a meal or prepare a sandwich
* prompting of medication
* light domestic tasks
The client used to enjoy knitting, but since suffering with arthritis in her hands and wrists she is no longer able to complete this task herself. She will sometimes watch TV and enjoys the morning and evening news.
The client would like to build a positive and trusting relationship with a Personal Assistant who understands her communication needs.
The client has a lovely garden and, once trust is established, she would like to sit in the garden with a cup of tea.
Other information
The client has Anxiety and Depression, Epilepsy (well controlled by medication), Neurofibromatosis (type 2), Right facial nerve palsy, TIA (May 2023), Deaf (lip reading), Right-sided weakness, Arthritis in hands and wrists. Due to swallowing difficulties, she is on a mashed/pureed diet.
Communication:
The Personal Assistant should sit directly opposite or fully turned to allow lip reading. Speak clearly and slowly, and consider writing down tricky words. The client struggles with strong accents and full sentences but can respond with a few words.
Moving and handling:
The client uses a kitchen trolley for mobility downstairs. Due to frailty and weakness, she is at risk of falls and has a Lifeline. Upstairs, she has a walking frame, grab rails, and a stair lift. She can pull herself to standing with assistance.
