Practice Manager – leading law firm


The Opportunity

A leading law firm is seeking a dynamic Practice Manager to drive operational excellence within its largest practice group. This pivotal, newly created role will suit a strategic thinker with a proven track record in business operations or practice management, ideally within the legal sector.


Key Responsibilities

* Operational Leadership: Oversee the day-to-day running of the group, ensuring processes are efficient and aligned with best practice. Champion continuous improvement and workflow optimisation.
* Financial Management: Take ownership of budgeting, billing, forecasting, and reporting. Work closely with the finance team to monitor performance, control costs, and support revenue growth.
* People & Culture: Mentor and develop a high-performing team of legal professionals and support staff. Partner with HR to foster a collaborative, inclusive, and growth-oriented culture.
* Client Service: Work alongside partners and solicitors to understand client needs, ensuring consistently high levels of service and satisfaction.
* Business Development: Collaborate with the marketing team to deliver effective strategies that raise the profile of the group. Identify and support new business opportunities.
* Compliance & Risk: Ensure the group operates within all regulatory frameworks. Implement risk management strategies to safeguard the business.
* Technology & Innovation: Lead on the adoption of technology and innovative solutions, including AI, to enhance operational efficiency and client service.
* Reporting & Analysis: Provide regular, insightful reports to senior leadership on financial and operational performance, as well as client feedback.
* Strategic Contribution: Play an active role in shaping the strategic direction of the Group, ensuring operational activities support the firm’s wider objectives.


Candidate Profile

* Commercially astute, ideally with an MBA or equivalent qualification.
* At least five years’ experience in business operations or practice management within a professional services environment, including three years in a senior role.
* Experience in the real estate sector is advantageous.
* Demonstrable project management expertise and a track record of successful project delivery.
* Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* A collaborative approach and a passion for developing people and teams.
