The Royal Drawing School looks to appoint a new Principal.
Founded by HM The King and artist Catherine Goodman in 2000, the Royal Drawing School has grown over the past 24 years to become acknowledged world-wide as the leading, specialist educational institute for observational drawing. An independent, not-for-profit charity, it aims to raise the standard and profile of observational drawing through teaching and practice.
Committed to removing social and financial barriers to make high quality drawing tuition accessible, the Royal Drawing School promotes a culture of diversity and welcomes people from all backgrounds and levels of experience through our educational programmes: The Drawing Year, our postgraduate-level scholarship course; The Public Programme ; our Young Artists programme; our Digital education; and our exhibitions, alumni and international residency programme.
We are now looking to appoint a charismatic, inspirational, dynamic, commercially savvy and strategic academic leader with experience in the visual arts and charity sector, who is looking for an opportunity to lead an organisation while maintaining a strong and direct connection to the people and stakeholders we work with.
The successful candidate will be an accomplished senior leader with significant experience within arts and culture. A demonstrable track record in strategic planning, financial management, income generation and stakeholder engagement is essential. The Principal will bring a clear understanding of the importance of balancing artistic ambition with commercial discipline and will possess the leadership and communication skills to inspire confidence across a broad spectrum of stakeholders including students, staff, trustees, donors, partners and communities.
Our values reflect the importance we place upon global connections, contemporary and inter-disciplinary arts practice, community, collaboration and partnership, access and diversity.
The Royal Drawing School is committed to being an inclusive employer and recruiting a workforce that is diverse and talented. However you identify, and whatever background you bring with you, we welcome you to apply for this role.
