The role

As an Engineering Specialist, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will play a vital role in supporting the Royal Navy by maintaining, installing and setting to work some of the most advanced systems in the defence sector - including mechanical, electrical and fibre‑optic equipment, as well as masts, periscopes, radar and radio systems. Every task you complete helps ensure operational capability at sea, contributing directly to national security while expanding your own technical expertise.

Day‑to‑day you'll be required to:

* Carry out planned and reactive maintenance to meet safety and customer requirements.
* Diagnose and resolve faults across a range of mechanical, electrical and fibre‑optic systems.
* Install, remove, pressure‑test and set to work engineering systems aboard Royal Navy vessels.
* Review and interpret documentation for masts, periscopes, radar and radio equipment.
* Work safely at all times in line with risk assessments and health and safety standards.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at HMNB Clyde Faslane.

Essential experience of the Engineering Specialist

* Background in mechanical and/or electrical engineering.
* Experience diagnosing engineering faults.
* Ability to understand and work from technical drawings and schematics.
* Knowledge of masts or periscopes is advantageous.
* Strong commitment to safe systems of work.

Qualifications for the Engineering Specialist

* HNC, HND or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
* Manual Handling training - Desirable
* Working at Height certification - Desirable

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
