An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Education Liaison Officer to join our Virtual School team at Hampshire County Council.

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people? The Virtual School is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and solution-focused individual to join our dedicated team. This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in shaping educational journeys, supporting professionals, and driving positive outcomes for Hampshire’s Looked After Children. If you're ready to bring energy, empathy, and excellence to a role that truly matters - this could be the perfect fit for you.

The Role:

As a Virtual School Education Liaison Officer, you’ll be at the heart of our mission to raise educational achievement for children in care. You’ll bring precision, initiative, and a collaborative spirit to a wide range of tasks, working closely with schools, colleges, carers, and social workers. Your ability to stay organised, resilient, and empathetic will be key as you navigate complex situations and advocate for the best educational outcomes. With strong ICT skills and a deep understanding of trauma-informed practice, you’ll help ensure every child receives the support they need to thrive.

What you’ll do:

* Deliver a wide range of administrative and educational support tasks with accuracy and efficiency
* Provide timely advice and guidance to schools, colleges, carers, and social workers
* Monitor and track the academic progress, attendance, and wellbeing of children in care using systems like the Personal Education Plan (PEP)
* Support the allocation and impact of Pupil Premium Plus funding
* Organise bespoke support packages such as mentoring and tuition
* Promote inclusive and therapeutic approaches to education
* Attend meetings and advocate for the voice of the child
* Respond to enquiries and offer practical solutions to educational challenges
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of statutory guidance and best practices

What we’re looking for:

* Educated to degree level (or equivalent)
* Highly accurate, methodical, and confident using ICT and data systems
* Resilient, empathetic, and able to manage challenging situations calmly
* Skilled in building strong relationships across multi-agency teams
* Able to work independently and collaboratively with excellent time management
* Passionate about improving outcomes for children who have experienced trauma

Please note: We are unable to offer sponsorship for this role and therefore it is essential that you already have the right to work in the UK before applying.

Why join us?

This is a highly rewarding role where your work will directly contribute to improving the educational experiences and outcomes of children in care. You’ll be part of a supportive team, have autonomy in your role, and access to ongoing professional development.

Our benefits package includes details of the holiday entitlement, pension scheme, flexi-time scheme, family friendly policies and interest free travel loans and discounts. We offer a flexible, motivating and inclusive workplace. We have created an environment that you can look forward to being a part of, where you are empowered to be your best and a workplace built on teamwork where people can grow and develop in their roles.

If you think you have what it takes to make a real difference in Hampshire, get in touch!
