Step into a pivotal senior leadership position at the heart of the Council’s strategic approach to capital delivery, property governance, and organisational transformation. Reporting into the Deputy Chief Executive & Executive Director of Corporate Resources, you will play a critical role in shaping a safe, sustainable, efficient, and future‑ready estate that supports high‑quality public services.

Your Role as Assistant Director of Assets:

Provide expert, evidence‑based advice to Cabinet, CLT, and Members on investment, risk, asset disposal, acquisitions, and long‑term planning.
Lead strategic oversight of capital delivery, property governance, and transformational programmes.
Ensure the Council’s estate remains safe, compliant, financially efficient, and operationally resilient.
Oversee substantial capital and revenue budgets, including facilities management, planned and reactive maintenance, lifecycle investment, and capital programme allocation.
Influence and assure multimillion‑pound capital schemes annually, contributing directly to MTFS delivery through capital receipts, prudent investment, and cost‑effective management.
Your previous experience as an Assistant Director of Assets:

Significant senior leadership experience within public sector estates, property, capital delivery, or strategic asset management.
Strong background in managing large capital budgets, complex governance frameworks, and high‑risk investment decisions.
Ability to operate confidently with senior political and corporate stakeholders, influencing strategic decisions at the highest levels.
Demonstrated track record of delivering transformation, improving asset performance, and modernising estate‑related services.
Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and decision‑making abilities.
