Automation / Controls Engineer Location: 45 minutes from Aberystwyth/Carmathen Salary: £50,000 £55,000 Working Pattern: Days role Monday to Friday Flexibility: Flexible start and finish times Type: Permanent Site Based: 5 days per week Overview The role will focus on supporting and developing the factorys automation and control systems while also contributing to a number of upcoming automation and improvement projects. Key Responsibilities Maintain and develop automation and control systems across the site Provide diagnostic support for SCADA, PLC and automation faults Carry out program modifications and improvements Support new capital projects and automation upgrades Work with Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and take part in FAT / SAT testing Maintain industrial networks and communications protocols Support preventive maintenance and system improvements Core Technical Skills Experience with SCADA development (preferably Siemens WinCC) Experience with PLC programming (Siemens S7 / TIA Portal) Ability to program using FBD and SCL (not just ladder logic) Experience modifying existing automation programs Experience working against Functional Design Specifications (FDS) Experience supporting Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) IT & Systems Skills Strong IT capability within industrial environments Windows system administration Maintaining industrial PCs and networks Experience with WinCC systems Supporting and maintaining automation network infrastructure Candidate Profile Apprentice trained engineer Strong background in automation / controls engineering Comfortable working across PLC, SCADA and industrial IT systems Experience supporting live production environments This role may also be of interest to candidates with experience as: Controls Engineer, Electrical & Automation Engineer, PLC Engineer, Controls & Instrumentation Engineer, Automation & Controls Technician, Electrical Project Engineer (Controls Bias), or Senior Automation Technician.
