What You’ll Bring (Essential Skills & Experience)To succeed in this role, you will bring a strongbination of technical expertise, practical experience, and collaborative mindset:Strong proficiency in CAD software ( SolidWorks, CATIA, NX) for 3D modelling and detailed drawingsThorough understanding of engineering drawing standards, GD&T, and tolerance analysisExperience with mechanical design for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA)Solid knowledge of materials, their properties, and selection criteria for mechanicalponentsAbility to perform basic structural, thermal, and fatigue calculations and interpret resultsProficiency in creating and maintaining BOMs, part specifications, and engineering change documentationPractical experience with prototyping, testing, and validating mechanical designsGood problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot design and production issuesStrongmunication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, suppliers, testing)
What Will Set You Apart (Advantageous Experience)While not essential, the following experience will give you an edge:Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) tools ( ANSYS, Abaqus) for design verificationFamiliarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) toolsKnowledge of sheet metal design, injection moulding, or other specific manufacturing processes & technologiesExperience working with suppliers and managing technical supplier documentationUnderstanding of industry standards and certifications relevant to mechanical products (ISO 9001, IATF 16949)Experience with electrical-mechanical integration and routing for harnesses or tubingHands-on experience with test rigs, instrumentation, and data acquisition for validationFamiliarity with cost reduction and value engineering methodsPrevious exposure to Agile or stage-gate product development processes
What You’ll Be Doing (Role & Responsibilities)In this role, you’ll have real ownership and influence, leading key design activities and working across multiple teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions:Lead mechanical design activities for assigned products or subsystems, ensuring technical quality and delivery on scheduleTranslate product requirements and concepts into detailed 3D models, drawings, and specificationsDefine material selection, finish, and tolerance requirements in collaboration with materials and manufacturing teamsPerform design reviews, risk assessments, and provide mitigation rmendations to stakeholdersCollaborate with electronic systems engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanicalponentsSupport prototyping activities, oversee build and test plans, and interpret test results to drive design improvementsCreate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), part lists, and engineering change notices (ECNs)Engage with suppliers to specifyponents, review manufacturing feasibility, and resolve production issuesEnsure designs meet applicable regulatory, safety, and quality standardsDrive continuous improvement initiatives for design processes, manufacturability, and cost efficiencyParticipate in project planning, status reporting, and stakeholdermunication to ensure alignment and timely delivery
