Job Title: Managing AP (Appointed Person Lifting)

Hours of Work: 37 hours per week
Salary: £44,000 – £45,000
What You’ll Be Doing
We have an exciting opportunity for a Managing AP to assist the SD Heavy lifting requirement for all lifting services within Portsmouth Naval Base. This includes delivering support to the QEC Platform. Working in a fast paced environment and being part of the SD team, you will operate in a flexible and adaptable way. You’ll also liaise with team leaders/managers from other sectors of SD departments in support of wider delivery service and able to make rapid informed decisions when priorities change or problems occur.
The post holder will manage a skilled team of Port Operatives and Heavy Lift staff within the Naval Base environment. On the Restricted Berth, the role is responsible for the daily management of all logistical jetty support functions working closely with all partners that service the QEC platform. This includes organising and attending daily planning meetings including providing detailed Heavy lift/slinging support and Mechanical Handling functions in line with KBS Maritime contractual obligations.
You’ll Have
* An extensive background and understanding of heavy lift services, mechanical handling and slinging from a managerial perspective.
* Management skills and the ability to lead a team effectively.
* Lifting AP certificate (essential)
* IOSH/NEBOSH accreditation (desirable)
* Computer literacy skills, conversant with Microsoft Office including Excel, and fully familiar with the use of smartphones.
* Excellent leadership and communication skills, capable of working and managing under pressure to achieve set deadlines.
