Overview
Join Mitie's dedicated maintenance team and play a vital role in delivering high-quality support across the Winfrith site. This position is crucial for ensuring contractual obligations are met through effective and safe maintenance practices. A significant part of the role involves plumbing and general site maintenance, so a plumbing qualification is necessary. A DBS check is required prior to starting, and candidates must be eligible to work in the UK.
Responsibilities
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks in line with contractual requirements across the site, ensuring job cards and PDA entries are completed accurately.
* Engage in new works and planned or responsive maintenance on various plant and systems, including plumbing services, such as installing pumps, valves, and pipework, and maintaining plant equipment.
* Act upon Legionella risk assessments and implement control measures such as flushing systems, taking tap temperatures, and performing de-scaling routines. Training will be provided for these tasks.
* Respond to reactive maintenance requests within agreed timeframes and ensure all documentation is completed promptly.
* Adhere to safety, health, and client requirements; follow company policies and procedures and contribute to risk assessments and method statements.
* Complete health and safety hazard reports to help improve standards.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and secure work environment; work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
* Ad-hoc duties may be required during your shift; a van will be provided and must be kept in good condition with weekly inspections.
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in plumbing, with at least one year of post-apprenticeship experience.
* Proven experience in mechanical and/or multi-disciplinary maintenance.
* Strong understanding of health and safety measures; able to work independently and deliver high-quality service.
* Good interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and customer awareness.
* Competent IT skills, including the use of a PDA.
* A commitment to ongoing personal and professional development through Mitie’s training initiatives.
Desirable Skills
* Previous experience in a similar role.
* Understanding of Legionella risk assessments and control measures, such as flushing systems and de-scaling tap inserts and showers.
* Willingness to develop skills in other areas of building services, including basic carpentry skills (e.g., hanging doors).
