Role title: Full-Stack Developer
Rate: £400-430/d
Onsite requirement: Fully remote
Contract length: 6 months
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain robust, secure, and scalable applications and APIs within a modern cloud environment (primarily AWS).
* Collaborate closely with product managers, delivery managers, business analysts, user researchers, and other engineers.
* Contribute to the technical direction and architectural decisions within the team.
* Write clean, testable code following best practices in security, accessibility, and DevOps.
* Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and continuous integration/deployment processes.
* Help troubleshoot and resolve live service issues, ensuring high availability and resilience.
* Work within GDS (Government Digital Service) standards, contributing to open-source where applicable.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Tech stack:
* Frontend- Express/Casa/Nunjuks with Typescript
* Backend- Java/Spring boot with some AWS integration's (SNS/SQS mostly)
* Data- MongoDB
* Infra- AWS with terraform for IaC
* Understanding of Agile and DevOps practices.
* Strong problem-solving skills with a collaborative, team-first mindset.
* Experience in automated testing and writing maintainable code.
* Comfortable working in a government/public sector or regulated environment, or a willingness to adapt to such.
* You will be expected to take ownership of your work and contribute to team planning and delivery decisions.
Desirable Skills
* Knowledge of the DWP tech stack or previous work on government digital services.
* Exposure to accessibility standards, security best practices, and performance tuning.
* Understanding of event-driven architecture and asynchronous messaging.
