We are looking for a dedicated and versatile individual to join our team as the Head of Engineering.
Purpose of the Role:
* Deliver safe, clean and reliable trains in accordance with daily business needs.
* Act as professional Head of Engineering
* Manage the engineering department
* Monitor maintenance plans to meet safety requirements and maximise depot capacity.
* Deliver all engineering activities in accordance with business plan target.
* Lead and motivate team to drive forward safety, quality and cost efficiency including successful transition of the fleets throughout the concession.
* Responsible for the provision of safe, reliable, well presented trains for c2c in accordance with the requirements of the c2c Train Plan and to meet business and customer requirements.
* Responsible for c2c complying with the requirements of the train leases including taking the necessary steps to minimise end of lease train liabilities.
* Working with the ROSCO’s to develop and implement cost effective innovative solutions that improve the c2c fleets and promote Track and Train now working closer together.
* Ensure that the performance of the c2c operated fleets are monitored and analysed, and that effective remedial action is undertaken to address reliability, technical and safety related problems.
* Establish and maintain contracts with suppliers for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of trains. Negotiate and agree contract variations ensuring compliance to the requirements of a key contract.
* Ensure continued compliance with legislation and industry standards through audits, inspection, investigations etc. Ensure continuing compliance with IS0 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 55001
* Ensure that the Engineering budget is constructed each year in line with c2c timescales and that spend is appropriately managed
Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications Required
* A Chartered Mechanical, Technical, Electronic or Systems Engineer
* Detailed technical and practical knowledge of diesel and electric, traction and Rolling Stock.
* Extensive practical experience of managing health and safety. Successfully completed the “Strategic Safety” course.
* Trained in incident management, investigation and recovery techniques.
* An excellent communicator with the ability to deal with the media and with a comprehensive understanding of business management and financial management techniques
* Proven experience in managing depots and fleet maintenance
* Proven leadership abilities
