Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail orientated Head of Department to lead our busy warehouse based rigging operation. Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, this role is responsible for the leadership, organisation, and operational control of all IPS rigging,trussing ,lifting equipment, and roof structures.
This a critical warehouse-focused position that ensures all equipment is maintained to the highest standards, fully compliant with regulations, and prepared accurately and efficiently for hire to our customers across the live events industry.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage and develop the rigging department team.
* Allocate daily tasks, supervise workflow, and monitor performance.
* Conduct safety briefings and uphold safe working practices at all times.
* Ensure all rigging, trussing, lifting equipment, stands, motors, roof structures, and associated hardware remain fully compliant.
* Oversee testing, inspection, and statutory certification processes.
* Maintain up-to-date inspection logs, certificates, and compliance documentation.
* Quarantine and report damaged or non-compliant equipment immediately.
* Oversee equipment preparation, packing, loading, and dispatch in line with project specifications.
* Verify quantities and ensure all equipment is clean, safe, and operational prior to dispatch.
* Supervise unloading, inspection, and booking-in of returned equipment.
* Manage cleaning, repairs, re-testing, and preventative maintenance schedules.
* Maintain accurate stock control using HireTrack (or related inventory management systems).
* Ensure full accuracy of rigging inventory at all times.
* Maintain high presentation, safety, and reliability standards across all rigging equipment.
* Monitor equipment lifecycle and recommend repairs, upgrades, or replacements.
* Ensure maintenance and inspection processes meet IPS and industry expectations.
* Collaborate closely with event organisers, production managers, and technical teams to deliver precise rigging solutions aligned with event specifications.
* Conduct risk assessments and ensure all rigging activities comply with health and safety regulations.
* Coordinate with other departments such as sound, lighting, and stage management to facilitate smooth event operations.
* Work collaboratively with the wider warehouse and project teams to meet deadlines.
* Load and unload vehicles when required.
* Support efficient equipment flow through the warehouse during peak operational periods.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in rigging, trussing, lifting operations or technical event production.
* Experience managing teams in a warehouse or technical environmen
* Strong working knowledge of lifting regulations (e.g., LOLER) and inspection requirements.
* Excellent organisational and inventory management abilities.
* Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety and compliance.
* Effective communication and leadership skills.
* Right to work in the UK.
