Further information on the Council and our directorates The Role: To contribute to and support the site’s operations in the delivery of efficient, economically effective and compliant receipt, storage, handling and export of waste and recyclable materials. To adhere to the Waste Hierarchy at all times and ensure that recycling targets are reached by maximising segregation. Key Responsibilities: · To drive and operate the assigned plant, shunter hook-lift vehicle and road hook-light as required for the storage and transporting of waste and recyclable materials · To follow site rules and adhere to speed limits & reversing procedures including using a banks persona and when required · To report any accident or incidents to the Operations Team Leader · To assist and direct the public on site to ensure correct segregation of waste and recyclable materials · To drive in a safe and courteous manner, following traffic regulations About You: · You must hold a valid driver certificate of professional competence qualification card (CPC) and undertake the required levels of training to ensure it’s validity · Have experience of working in a waste environment including an operational depot or waste transfer station · Experience of working to strict health and safety guidelines · Experience of dealing with a wide range of colleagues and customers · Ability to work outdoors and in all weather conditions What we offer: · A competitive salary based on your skills, experience and talent · Hybrid and flexible working options · An excellent local authority benefits pension scheme · Professional development through learning opportunities, regular training sessions and apprenticeship and management schemes Further information on our Rewards and Benefits can be found here For more information on the role, please contact the Recruiting Manager Michelle Tinsley, michelle.tinsley@stoke.gov.uk Pre-Employment Checks: Any offer of employment will be subject to the successful completion of required pre-employment checks. Driver Assessment Requirement Appointment to any of the above posts is subject to successfully completing a practical, road‑based driver assessment. This assessment ensures the candidate can operate Large Goods Vehicles (LGVs) safely and competently, in line with all legal and safety standards.
