Professional Duties
* Plan and prepare courses and lessons, including setting and marking work.
* Teach pupils according to their educational needs, achieving positive learning outcomes.
* Assess, record and report on pupils’ development, progress and attainment.
* Promote pupils’ progress and well‑being; provide advice, guidance and support.
* Maintain good order and discipline in accordance with school policies; safeguard pupils’ health and safety.
* Participate in staff and professional development activities and performance reviews.
* Contribute to the preparation of pupils for public examinations and arrange for their supervision.
* Take part in administrative and organisational tasks, including selection and induction of other teachers, coordination of teaching staff and management of resources.
* Ensure availability for work required by the school: 195 days of teaching, 1,265 hours per year, with time for lesson planning and marking.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
* Teaching qualification recognised for grant‑aided schools in Northern Ireland.
* Honours degree 2:1 or above in Computer Science or a related ICT‑related field.
* Registered with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland (GTCNI) before taking up the post.
* Demonstrable experience teaching GCSE Digital Technology and GCSE Computer Science, achieving positive outcomes.
* Experience using a variety of teaching approaches to support and challenge pupils of all abilities.
* Ability to contribute to extracurricular programmes within the school.
Essential Interview Criteria
* Knowledge and understanding of the NI CCEA ICT curriculum and assessment strategies.
* Knowledge of approaches to promote positive behaviour for learning.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to use key school management systems.
* Capacity to set targets, provide constructive feedback and analyse data.
* Initiative, problem‑solving, flexibility and teamwork.
* Demonstrated commitment to professional development.
* Evidence of alignment with the school’s values and ethos.
Desirable Criteria
* Teaching experience in Digital Technology and Computer Science at AS and/or A‑Level level.
Disclosure Requirements
The role involves regulated activity; an Enhanced Disclosure of Criminal Background is required. The candidate will be expected to cover the cost of the certificate.
