DevOps Engineer – OpenShift CI/CD Automation
Whitehall resources are looking for an DevOps Engineer – OpenShift CI/CD Automation. This role is hybrid working with 3 days per week onsite in Sheffield, and the remainder remote working, for an initial 3-6 month contract.

Job Description:
The DevOps Engineer will ensure smooth integration of development and operations processes during the migration from VMware to OpenShift. This role focuses on building and optimizing CI/CD pipelines, automating deployments, managing containerized workloads, and maintaining platform reliability and scalability. The engineer will work closely with development, infrastructure, and operations teams to deliver secure, efficient, and compliant solutions.
* Key Responsibilities:Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support application deployment and migration to OpenShift.
* Automate provisioning and configuration of OpenShift clusters and containerized workloads.
* Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless migration and operational readiness.
* Implement and manage container image build, scanning, and deployment workflows.
* Optimize platform performance, scalability, and reliability through automation and monitoring.
* Integrate pipelines with source control systems (e.g., GitLab, GitHub) and build tools.
* Troubleshoot pipeline and deployment issues, ensuring minimal downtime during migration.
* Maintain compliance with security, governance, and regulatory standards.
* Continuously improve automation practices by adopting emerging DevOps tools and methodologies.
* Required Skills & Experience:Strong experience in OpenShift and Kubernetes administration, including cluster management and workload orchestration.
* Expertise in CI/CD pipeline tools such as Jenkins and GitLab CI.
* Proficiency in Ansible automation and Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform.
* Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker) and image registries.
* Knowledge of scripting languages (Bash, Python) for automation tasks.
* Understanding of security best practices for containerized and cloud environments.
* Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
