Job Title: Accounting Manager

Description:
• Responsible for the delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting requirements.
• Responsible for the delivery of all statutory financial reporting requirements in accordance with statutory reporting timelines
• Single point accountability to build and manage a working relationship with external auditors
• Responsible for monthly management accounts submissions including balance sheet, income statement, cashflow and relevant supporting management information and analysis
• Responsible for the accounting of all taxation and key business partner to the Tax Manager to ensure robust tax reporting
• Prepare relevant accounting memorandums and ensure adherence to accounting standards and policies under IFRS and UK GAAP
• timely involvement in potential M&A activities
• Support and input to risk identification and mitigation
• Contribute and help drive the implementation of the group reporting template, and future accounting impacted systems and processes
• Maintain a robust framework of internal control, ensuring policies and procedures are in place, compliance is reviewed, and risk is mitigated to safeguard the company's business.
• Compliance with relevant laws and regulations and ensure that the client's management system is kept up to date with regards to accounting and finance.
• Co-owner of the Finance continuous improvement agenda to ensure the finance organisation delivers world-class processes.
• Build effective relationships with key external stakeholders such as shareholders governance teams, JV partners and relevant HM Government departments.
• Opportunity to shape new accounting policies, controls and processes
• Line Leader of small team of Finance professionals and functional leader of a diverse finance function.
Requirements:
• Commercial acumen and strong business partnering focus.
• Ability to challenge the finance function to think through strategic issues and value opportunities.
• Proven experience in achieving results through external relationships, by means of effective influencing, building strong working relationships with key external stakeholders including JV partners, Shareholders and Government with an ability to lead with humility & respect.
• Demonstrates the courage to influence and co-lead the business by bringing analytics and insights to the table, speaking up about risks and creating focus on value.
• Deep understanding of the impact of external trends and competition on the assets to support the facilitation of decision making.
• Strong integrator and initiator of cross-Business/Function and/or external collaborative efforts with bottom line focus.
• Prior front-line leadership or leading virtual teams, and driving strong performance management, is essential.
• Proven demonstration of change management behaviours: e.g. building relationships, influencing course of action, flexible thinking, yielding creative solutions, commercial mindset, self-starter, courageous.
• Excellent understanding of the UK North Sea and Upstream business landscape and activities to drive value.
• Proven experience of leading high performing, Finance teams is preferable.
• Professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CA) or equivalent.
