Specialist Occupational Therapist – Cardiac Care / Endocrinology
George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust – Permanent, 37.5 hours per week (potential weekend working). Salary: £39,959–£48,117 per annum. Working pattern: full-time, flexible.
Job Summary
As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist you will assess, treat, educate and plan discharges for patients with cardiac and endocrine conditions across inpatient wards and cardiac rehabilitation services. You will deliver education sessions, contribute to service development and support a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
* Undertake assessments, clinical diagnosis and treatment for patients within cardiac care, endocrinology and cardiac rehabilitation.
* Work autonomously with a significant specialist clinical caseload without direct supervision.
* Supervise and teach junior qualified therapists and assistants.
* Demonstrate leadership, contribute to service development and monitor standards of practice.
* Work flexibly across a 7‑day period as required.
Qualifications
* Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy.
* HCPC registration.
* Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio, including recent attendance at relevant post‑graduate courses.
Experience and Knowledge
* Minimum 18 months to 2 years of post‑graduate experience.
* Previous experience in a specialist clinical area, preferably cardiac or endocrine.
* Band 5 rotational experience.
* Involvement in audit and supervision of less experienced staff.
* Contribution to clinical education of junior staff.
Skills and Abilities
* Understanding and application of clinical governance.
* Highly developed physical skills for assessment and manual treatment.
* Excellent written and verbal communication, including ability to give and receive complex, sensitive information.
* Ability to prioritise, organise and manage workload.
* Teamworking within a multidisciplinary team.
* Computer literacy: email, Word, PowerPoint.
