Lead Specialist CraftspersonReporting into the Building Supervisor, you’ll work within a carpentry / joinery team including an Apprentice Carpenter and a Facilities Support Services Coordinator. Through delivery of conservation repairs, the team will help to look after our most significant and historic buildings across London and the Southeast. In addition to conservation carpentry repair and joinery tasks on windows, doors, floorboards and gates, other works may include roofing, traditional lath ceiling works and fitting new joinery. We’re a small but highly proficient team who all help each other and other teams within the National Trust when needed, therefore you will need to be knowledgeable in other trades. Your contractual place of work will be in West Wycombe. You will be spending your time travelling to other National Trust places to work onsite or at our workshop. From bench joinery to site joinery, your role will be varied. The scope of work you will be doing will be varied and includes condition reports detailing recommended repairs, fabrication / installation of specialist bespoke joinery such as windows and doors and other items. Conservation repairs to historic woodwork onsite, timber repairs to existing joinery and preparation for redecoration. Part of our work is also to engage with our visitors and showing them the conservation work that’s being carried out.
