The school & the Year 1 Teacher role
This Good Kingston school provides small-group intervention support, experienced TAs and a leadership team keen to support the new Year 1 Teacher. The Year 1 Teacher will take part in pre-term planning and induction before January 2026, attend induction sessions in January 2026, and be teaching full-time from January 2026. The school provides CPD and mentoring for every Year 1 Teacher appointed in the run-up to January 2026.
Year 1 Teacher — core responsibilities
• Deliver daily systematic phonics and guided reading as the Year 1 Teacher.
• Plan engaging, practical maths and writing lessons that build fluency as the Year 1 Teacher.
• Use assessment to personalise learning and run booster groups as the Year 1 Teacher.
• Communicate progress regularly with parents and take part in enrichment as the Year 1 Teacher.
Year 1 Teacher — candidate profile
• QTS and proven KS1 experience as a Year 1 Teacher.
• Strong phonics practice and evidence of impact as the Year 1 Teacher.
• A collaborative, creative Year 1 Teacher who will attend CPD and mentoring before and after January 2026.
Contract & start details: this is a Full-Time Year 1 Teacher role with a January 2026 start. The Full-Time Year 1 Teacher will receive induction, planning time and ongoing mentoring from January 2026 onward.
