We have a great opportunity for a Night Scout to support our Street Lighting contract in Middlesborough.
Job Overview:
The Night Scout is responsible for conducting night-time patrols along predetermined routes within the Redcar & Cleveland borough. The primary objective is to identify and report faults or defects within the street lighting network. By accurately logging issues using a tablet-based system, the Night Scout plays a vital role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and reliability of public lighting infrastructure.
Key activities
1. Patrol assigned routes during night hours to inspect and assess the condition of street lighting assets.
2. Identify and report issues such as:
3. Non-functioning or unlit streetlights
4. Flickering, dim, or faulty lamps
5. Lights remaining on during daylight hours
6. Physical damage, vandalism, or tampering
7. Overgrown foliage obstructing light output or access to the column
8. Record all findings accurately using the MUSE system on a tablet device.
9. Immediately report any critical faults or safety hazards (e.g., fallen columns, exposed electrical components).
10. Adhere to scheduled patrol routes and respond to ad hoc or emergency route requests as directed.
11. Re- fixing bollard clamshells and completing immediate repairs or using cones to warn road users before remedial works can be completed by others.
Skills, qualifications & experience
12. Good observational skills and attention to detail
13. Full UK driving licence
14. Competent in using tablets and digital reporting systems
15. First Aid certification
16. All necessary equipment, including vehicle, tablet, and PPE, will be provided.
17. Full training will be given on routes, reporting systems, and health & safety procedures etc.
