A key aspect of this role involves direct intervention with young patients requiring mental health support alongside physical health care, and building relationships with internal and external teams to develop effective, therapeutic care pathways.
Main duties include:
1. Providing clinical leadership and training on care delivery for children and young people with mental health needs.
2. Developing care packages for young people with complex mental health issues, including self-harm and eating disorders, involving multi-agency collaboration.
3. Communicating sensitive information empathetically to children, young people, families, and professionals, ensuring understanding and reassurance.
4. Reviewing cases in ED or ambulatory settings, ensuring risk assessments and appropriate care plans are in place.
The role requires ensuring safe, effective care, including inpatient planning, risk assessment, and discharge planning for young patients.
