Brambles Community Pre-school opened in 2008 and we have an outstanding reputation for quality day care. We have just received a GOOD in our latest Ofsted Inspection. The preschool is in a large classroom, has a large outdoor space and has an outdoor nurture room. Children's safeguarding and emotional well-being are our key priorities and we run session throughout the week to support any child who needs it. Our staff are highly trained in Nurture Groups, Emotional Literacy Support, Blast Speech Intervention and many special educational needs interventions. We have a small, experienced staffing team with our longest serving staff member being here since 2005.
We are located within the grounds of Thornhill Primary School, close to M27 and on several bus routes.
We are seeking a preschool deputy manager to support the preschool manager role, 8.15 to 3.45, Monday to Friday term time only. Pay will be pro-rata.
We are seeking a preschool deputy manager to start as soon as possible.
The main purpose of this position:
· To manage the day to day running of the preschool to include co-ordinating the provision of a caring, safe, secure and stimulating environment, meeting all required Ofsted requirements.
· To plan a range of activities based on an observation and assessment cycle for children aged 2 – 4 years.
·Support managing a staff team, working with management committee to ensure policies and procedures are implemented at all times.
· Fulfilling duties as the Designated safeguarding Lead for the setting to promote the safeguarding and welfare of children, staff and families.
Supervisory responsibilities:
· This role is to directly supervise all employees and temporarily assigned students and work placements.
Main responsibilities and tasks:
· To ensure all staff comply at all times with preschool policies, procedures and standards, including health and safety, hygiene, inclusion and confidentiality.
· To liaise with families to ensure particular needs of children are met.
· To lead the planning of safe, creative and appropriate opportunities according to children's needs and interests to fulfil the requirements of the EYFS.
· To develop and maintain good relationships and communication with families to facilitate meeting the needs of each child, including organising meetings to update and involve parents/carers in their child's learning.
· To induct, supervise and contribute to performance management of staff according to policies and procedures.
· To co-ordinate and chair staff meetings.
· To manage staffing levels and ratios.
· To maintain effective personnel systems and ensure that files are kept up to date.
· To actively promote and facilitate relevant staff training and development opportunities, including organising and monitoring key worker system.
· To actively promote the preschool to ensure that vacant places are filled, and that services are marketed and advertised so that the preschool runs at full capacity.
· To induce, supervise and contribute to performance management of staff according to policies and procedures.
· Working creatively with children within the EY framework, in order to provide an enabling learning environment for all the children.
· Ensuring all children have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
· Liaising with Reception Class teachers to share information and agree a course of action.
· Liaising with advisory and support staff in the development and improvement of the preschool setting.
· To act in accordance with current legislation, policy and procedures.
· Leading the organisation of the availability and use of general and specialist play equipment and other resources, ensuring they are clean, safe and secure.
· Ensuring that Health & Safety policies are in place.
· Ensuring activities are planned both inside and outdoors.
· Promoting positive values, attitudes and good child behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with the established policy and encouraging children to take responsibility for their own behaviour.
· Providing objective and accurate feedback and reports as required on children's academic progress.
· Contributing to the overall ethos/work/aims of the setting.
· To actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and young people in the workplace, ensuring that all staff and volunteers observe setting policies and procedures to keep children safe from harm.
· To liaise with the Management Committee and Chairperson regarding any issues within the preschool.
· If the deputy manager is also a keyworker then they should also follow the Practitioners job description.
