Position:

An opportunity has arisen for permanent Plumber Technician based at University Hospital Ayr.

What you will do:

An opportunity has arisen in the South Sector Estates Department for a suitably experienced Plumber Technician. A City & Guilds Craft Certificate/Level 3 Certificate, or equivalent for the trade is essential.

You will assist in the provision of a comprehensive multi-site installation, maintenance and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) service and to maximise the efficiency and quality of the mechanical, electrical and environmental services of NHS Ayrshire & Arran using resources available.

Experience in building services within a hospital environment including water and heating systems and the use of an electronic based CaFM system would be an advantage. Following completion of a recognised apprenticeship and having gained extensive experience in this field, you will be part of a team reporting directly to the Building Supervisor, responsible for the delivery of engineering services within a hospital environment and across community premises. You should be able to demonstrate versatility and experience on a range of complex engineering maintenance work task schedules in addition to being an effective communicator.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

* Complete recognised apprenticeship/City & Guilds Craft Certificate
* Trade experience and Driving licence
* Working in conjunction with all other engineering and building supervisors
* General high level of varied engineering skills and competencies
* Ability to communicate clearly and precisely to a wide range of people
* Self-motivated, able to work on own initiative
* Evidence of good and effective communications skills
* Ability to work under pressure and respond to timescales
* Professional and positive approach.

Hours:

37 per week (8.00am to 4.30 pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am to 1.00pm Friday)

You will also be required to take part in an on call rota and be able to work at other hospitals within Ayrshire to meet the demands of the service. Due to the requirement to participate in an on call rota it is desirable that the successful applicant should live no more than 30 minutes travelling time from the hospital.

Driving Licence:

A driving licence is essential for this role.
