Overview
The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust seeks a Band 5 Senior Technician in the Pharmacy Technical Services Unit at Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro. The post is also available as a development Band 4 to Band 5 Senior Pharmacy Technician, with a starting salary of £26,530 for newly or recently qualified technicians; full training will be provided.
In a specialist facility you will be part of a dedicated team preparing vital medicines. You will assist in the preparation of injectable medicines such as chemotherapy, radiopharmaceuticals, intravenous nutrition and other life-saving therapies. The role includes supporting the Lead Operations Technician in managing the Unit and the Lead Training Technician in supervision and training of staff.
Main duties
Under the direction of the Lead Technicians, coordinate day-to-day activities in all aspects of pharmacy technical services to support patient needs and meet GMP standards.
Act as a validated dispenser for the manufacture of sterile products, support radiopharmaceutical manufacture, and assist in providing a non-sterile manufacturing service. Provide direct supervision of a team of technicians and pharmacy assistants to ensure services are safe, efficient and timely.
Having completed specialist PIPC and PAAP training, responsible for checking and approving batches of medicines prepared under the Medicines Act 1968 Section 10 exemption for individual patients.

Experience
* Essential: 2 years post qualification experience in a Pharmacy Technical Services environment
