As the Security Systems Lead, you will predominantly work within our Alarm Monitoring Centre (AMC), which continuously monitors the security of our estate. The AMC is connected to remote sites through multi-face communications to CCTV, IDS, Electronic access control, Radio pad systems, ADSL line, etc.
The Security Systems Lead will focus on ensuring that the electronic systems feeding and within the AMC are fit for purpose, compliant with regulations, and enable the AMC to identify serious crime/terrorist threats and initiate Police responses at any time. You will develop expertise in our head-end system, owning and developing its configuration to meet AMC needs.
You will identify how changes impact AMC efficiency and ensure our operations and products are future-proofed through horizon scanning, industry knowledge, and adoption of innovative technologies.
What you will be doing as a Security Systems Lead
1. Own and develop the Head-end configuration as SME, providing advice and guidance while acting as an ‘intelligent client’ for the OT/ESS teams.
2. Have in-depth knowledge of VSS, intruder detection, access control systems, and other security technologies, with the ability to specify, design, and evaluate these systems.
3. Ensure third-party contractors provide fit-for-purpose alarm configurations supporting the AMC team.
4. Maintain maps and schematics, incorporating project upgrades within our systems.
5. Support planned system upgrades, specifically Lenel and Genetec, and develop the AMC strategy.
6. Support the AMC upgrade project, ensuring successful delivery of ESS systems and setting expectations for the ESS/OT teams.
7. Oversee maintenance requests with the ESS/OT team to ensure AMC functionality is maintained.
8. Support continuous improvement activities by reviewing AMC operations for operational and process enhancements.
9. Collaborate with the ESS/OT team to ensure system resilience within the AMC.
10. Deliver security KPIs and adhere to SLAs.
11. Promote a security-conscious culture within Thames Water.
The role is based at Kemble Court, Reading, on a hybrid basis, with 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
What you should bring to the role
* Expertise in Electronic security systems, security management, or risk management.
* Strong understanding of physical security principles and methodologies.
* Experience with head-end system maintenance and installation.
* Experience in Alarm receiving centre systems, project lifecycle, physical & personnel security measures, applying security principles including NPSA Deter, Detect, Delay, Mitigate, and Respond.
* Ability to demonstrate understanding of technical requirements in VSS, intruder detection, and access control.
* Experience delivering security projects and supporting change management, with planning skills for cost reduction and performance improvement.
* Strong knowledge of security principles, practices, and technologies.
* Negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
* Proficiency in MS Office and working knowledge of Genetec and Lenel systems.
The successful candidate will need to undertake a Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) prior to starting.
